EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER DIRECTOR & STAFF
Marsha Newstat is the director of the Early Childhood Center. Under her leadership, Marsha has successfully managed the Early Childhood Center to become the only accredited Jewish pre-school in Santa Monica.
Marsha works closely with our caring staff to maintain the very best programs possible. Our lead teachers are trained to understand the special and individual needs of children and certified in Early Childhood Education by the State of California. Our assistants are also trained or currently pursuing their education in childhood development.
Early Childhood Center Director
Marsha Newstat has been employed at Beth Shir Sholom since September 2002. She has over 30 years of experience in Education and Administration. She has worked for public, private, non-profit and corporate schools.
Marsha received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from UCLA and her Master of Science Degree in Education is from Pepperdine University. She specialized in Early Childhood Education and holds four credentials.
She is a member of the Santa Monica Early Childhood Task Force, an NAEYC validator a past president and current board member of the Association for Early Jewish Education.
She has been married to Gene for over thirty years. Together they have raised one Bruin (Joshua) and one Trojan (Rachel).
Josh is an attorney and Rachel works in Entertainment Law.
Marsha is a die-hard sports fan who loves the Bruins, Lakers and Dodgers.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and going to plays and movies.
