MEN'S CLUB at beth shir sholom

MISSION

The Men's Club is a community of men within our congregation.  The Men's Club

is part social, part social action.   Including events such as Poker nights,

Dodger Games, Hiking in the Santa Monica Moutains, tennis and Golf outings,

guest speakers, retreats, in the hope of creating camaraderie and friendships. 

We're also interested in service to our Beth Shir Sholom family.   There are

many opportunities to make your presence felt; High Holiday Ushering,

Sukkah Building, Hanukkah and Purim Celebrations, and the Holocaust

Memorial Candle Program. 

In addition, we're looking to reach out to the wider community by volunteering

in soup kitchens, feeding the homeless, walk/bike-a-thons raising funds

aiding research to fight disease and other worthwhile endeavors.

Food for thought

Many decades ago, the men and women of Reform Judaism organized separate auxiliary organizations based on gender. Today, when gender roles have blurred in the workplace and in the home, what unique roles can a men’s organization or a women’s organization play in a congregation? Do we still need such groups? What might they look like in the future?
